Surely, many masters were faced with a situation where a pencil was grind off and it became almost impossible to hold it in hand. Yes, and it’s inconvenient to draw something with a "stub" of a pencil. It's a pity to throw out. In this case, you can make a simple holder-extension for pencils.

In general, this device is universal: it can be used both as an extension for pencil “bits” and as a holder for even whole pencils. In this case, this device protects the pencil from various damage.

First of all, you will need to find a suitable piece of profile pipe. Ideally, of course, use a workpiece made of copper or brass (in extreme cases - aluminum). But if there is nothing like this at hand, then the usual profile of a square or rectangular section is suitable.

The main stages of work

If the workpiece fits the size of a pencil, that’s good. If not, then we cut off one wall with a grinder, then grind the excess on a grinding machine and then fasten the wall back. This can be done in a banal way - with glue.

When using a profile pipe made of brass and copper, you can solder the wall with a gas torch and a suitable solder for this. Then we grind the workpiece on a belt grinder or manual grinding and round off the edges.

Next, we drill a hole and cut the thread for the fixing screw. At the last stage of the work, it remains only to insert a pencil or "stub" and fix it with a screw. The universal extension holder is ready! For a detailed process of making homemade products, see the video on the site.
