If you want to make original desktop speakers, you can use vases with a wide opening for this. It has long been known that the spherical shape is considered one of the best for the manufacture of audio speakers. In fact, a glass vase is a finished case, which will only need to be slightly modified.
To make glass spherical columns with your own hands, you will need two vases. They will need to be drilled through holes (in the bottom). And for this, you can use a diamond crown on glass and ceramic for an electric drill. Before drilling, the container must be placed in water.
Another through hole in the vase (smaller diameter) will need to be drilled for installing connectors using a ceramic drill. First, masking tape must be glued to the surface. This is necessary for the convenience of marking, and also so that there are no chips. In the same way we drill the second hole.
The main stages of work
From the MDF sheet with a thickness of about 20 mm, cut two seats for the speakers (one for each column). We drill five through holes in them. We process on a milling cutter, after which we prime and paint. We insert threaded bushings into the holes.
In the holes drilled in the bottom of the glass vases, we insert the bass reflector - and for reliability we mount it on epoxy glue. Next, install the connectors. We connect the audio cable, after which we install the speaker itself.
