To drill a regular round hole in wooden workpieces, you don’t need a lot of mind - just straight arms, an electric drill and a good drill. But it’s not so easy to drill even square holes in wooden products.
Usually in such situations, first drill holes with a simple round drill, and then align the walls with a chisel. However, this is time consuming. There is another option using a manual milling cutter, but again, quickly drilling a square will not work.
You can make square holes in a tree on a drilling machine using special drills. However, before starting work, it is necessary to make nozzles into which drills will be inserted.
The main stages of work
The first step is to find a piece of thick-walled steel round pipe for the diameter of the tail of the drill. If the inner diameter of the sleeve is less than necessary, we expand the hole with metal files.
Next, from the pieces of steel strip you need to make a homemade clamp that will be mounted on a spindle head. Then we connect the sleeve with the clamp using two steel bars of circular cross section - this will require welding.
