As you know, the best gift is one that is made by yourself. And it's hard to argue with that. Therefore, if you want to make an original gift, spend a little time and make an “eternal” calendar, which is not only an decoration of the interior, but also convenient in terms of practicality.

To make a simple version of the perpetual calendar, you will need blanks from plywood or natural wood, a rectangular piece of plexiglass, white paint and wood glue. All of these materials are easy to find in any workshop.

How to make a simple perpetual calendar yourself

For this homemade product you will need plywood or natural wood. We cut one bar with a length of 15.5 cm and a width of 5.6 cm, in which from one edge we drill a through hole with a diameter of 32 mm (drill bit for an electric drill).

You will also need a bar 15.5 cm long and 4.5 cm wide, two squares with sides of 4.6 x 4.5 cm and one rectangle with sides of 4.5 x 3 cm. We connect all the details, as well as a piece of plexiglass, using wood glue . In the resulting two compartments inside the box we put 15 wooden plates with numbers.

The plates themselves are painted white and grinded so that their surface is smooth. On top of the entire structure we make a lid with a round “window” 15.5 cm long and 5.6 cm wide. We also make separate boxes with slots for boards with the names of the months and days of the week. The constituent elements of the perpetual calendar are installed on a wooden stand.
