You want to cook a salad with beets (for example, “Vinaigrette” or “Herring under a fur coat”), but you don’t have time to boil this “long-playing” vegetable? Perhaps, one should not deny oneself pleasure, and cook beets in the microwave? Then you do not have to wait for the water to boil, to regulate, and then also control the level of its boiling during cooking. All that is required is to prepare the root crop (or root crops), send it to the microwave and wait very little time. Set the power relay of your microwave oven immediately to 700 watts. If you want to speed up the cooking process even further, increase the power of the device, and accordingly reduce the time. Or, conversely, if you can afford to lengthen this process, reduce the microwave power by 100-200 watts. And increase the time slightly. In any case, no matter what method of cooking beets in the microwave you like, to begin with, thoroughly wash the root crop and be sure to cut the stem. In addition, correctly select the dishes for use in a microwave oven. It can be some kind of heat-resistant glass or ceramic bowl, saucer, plate. A plastic container designed for cooking and heating in the microwave, or a plastic bag for baking, is also suitable. But in no case do not use foil and any metal utensils for these purposes.

Ingredients:

  • beets - 3 root crops of medium size.

How to cook beets in the microwave:

1. Roasting beets.

In this case, you need 1 root vegetable, a saucer (suitable for use in a microwave oven), a small length of a sleeve for baking and the most common knitting needle.

In a clean beetroot, make 8-10 through-punctures with a knitting needle. Together with the saucer, pack the root crop into a section of the sleeve, pierce the cellophane several times as well.

Send the packaging to the microwave for 17-20 minutes. As soon as the microwave oven finishes its work, right through the bag with a knife, check the readiness of the beets (if the knife easily enters it, the vegetable is ready). Remove the packaging from the oven and carefully open the cellophane. As a result of this method of cooking beets, as a rule, it turns out to be wrinkled, to the touch as springy as a rubber toy. In addition, the peel is very poorly removed from it.

2. Boiling beets in the peel.

In this case, you need 1 root vegetable, a heat-resistant deep bowl (suitable for the size of beets), a glass of water (maybe more or, conversely, less), a plastic lid for a microwave oven.

Pour water into a bowl and dip the beets in it. Put the filled container in the microwave oven, close the lid. Turn on the device for 10 minutes.

After the set time has elapsed, carefully turn the beets in water to another barrel, turn on the microwave again for 10 minutes.

As a result of this method of cooking beets, it turns out as if it was cooked in a more familiar way - in a pan with water. The peel is peeled off very easily, and inside it is dense and juicy.

3. Boil the beets in slices without a peel.

In this case, you will need 1 root vegetable, a deep heat-resistant bowl, a little water (no more than half a glass), a knife and a plastic lid for a microwave oven.

This way you can cook beets for salad. Peel the root crop and cut into a small cube or straw. Pour water into a bowl.

Throw chopped beets in a bowl of water and send to the microwave, not forgetting to cover, for 8-9 minutes.

This method of cooking beets in a microwave oven provides an excellent option for a ready-to-use product. True, the dish, which is located in the microwave (as well as the bowl and lid), is covered with small beetroot sprays, but this is only a minor nuisance.

Be sure to at least try to cook the beets in a microwave oven. You may not want to use the usual way of cooking it anymore.

The choice is yours!
