Folding furniture for camping has long gained popularity. Many take comfortable and lightweight stools with them on a picnic or camping trip.

In this review, the author shows how to make stylish and durable portable seats with your own hands.

For this you need plywood 20 mm thick. Having decided on the size of the stool, saw off the future legs.

Consider whether you will take a stool with you in a backpack or carry in a car. Cut one edge at an angle of 45 degrees. Now you need to carefully sand the place saw.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, mark the middle and drill holes in the legs, tightening them with a clamp beforehand.

It is better to purchase special furniture mounts. They look neat, clothes will not cling to them, and the stool will turn out to be reliable and durable.

Measure 5 cm from the beveled edge of the legs and attach a wide partition to them, having previously drilled holes in the plywood.

Repeat the same on the other side. For this mount, ordinary screws are suitable. It is better to pre-process the junction with carpentry glue.

Now you need durable round rails with a diameter of at least 15 mm. At the top of the legs, drill a few millimeters less.

Now grind the ends of the slats with a cutter, process with wood glue and insert into the holes. A rubber mallet will help to gently and tightly hammer them.

By the way, if you do not have a mallet, you can do it yourself from a regular tee. You can read more about this here.

The final stage of work

You can now trim the upper edge of the legs by measuring the angle in the unfolded position, or leave it straight. The stool needs to be disassembled and thoroughly sanded.

After that, the plywood can be coated with stain, paint or oil. After the composition has completely dried, the stool can be reassembled.

Thick twine will be used for the seat. It is durable and goes well with the natural texture of wood. You can cut it into separate strips and attach it to superglue. Or tie around the legs in some decorative way.

The work is over! It is convenient to take such light and compact seats with you on a picnic or you can simply take them out to the garden. And everyone can make them. So go for it!
