For quick stripping of electric single or stranded wires, a special tool is usually used - a stripper. However, the author suggests making an alternative to him, and saving money.

To make a simple do-it-yourself device for removing insulation from wires, you will need a small piece of polypropylene pipe with a length of about 15-20 cm, as well as a segmented blade for a stationery knife.

First of all, the author applies a segmented blade to a piece of PP pipe, after which, using a conventional pencil, he puts the risks on the pipe surface at about the same distance from each other.

The main stages of work

Then the polypropylene pipe must be connected to another PP tube, fixing the edges of the tape. At the same time, the lines drawn with a pencil should be visible as shown in the photo below.

At the next stage, using drills of various diameters, it is necessary to make small transverse "grooves" on the polypropylene tube.

After that, the "grooves" made by the drill will need to be deepened so that a through hole is obtained in the pipe wall. We clamp the workpiece in a vice, as if a little flattened, and insert the segment blade inside.

The result is a home-made device for stripping wires. Cheap and cheerful, as they say. You can remove insulation from wires of different sections.
